Pumpkin Patch

It's hard to believe pumpkin patch season is over. We had a great time this year with the new additions to Vala's. Dan didn't work quite as much as years past, and it was nice to have him around a little more.

2016 School Pictures

Somehow, I was given a picture of a girl who looks like a second grader instead of a preschooler. But Dan and I think these are some pretty spectacular school pictures. Dayna - 6th Grade Annie - Preschool

First School Dance

Somewhere along the line, I blinked and this young lady went to her first school dance.
Beautiful, isn't she?

Self Preservation

It's been a busy month canning, freezing, dehydrating, defrosting, and otherwise keeping up on the garden and house.

A Golden Day with a Golden Sower

Three years ago, Dayna had a pretty big surgery that kept her down most of Christmas break. Her Aunt Karey bought her some books for Christmas to keep her occupied. We fell in love with Chris Grabenstein's "The Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library." Last year, this was one of several books that was nominated for Nebraska's Golden Sower award, eventually taking the title after school children across the state voted. The Ashland Library was asked to make a presentation to the winners earlier this month, and Dayna was asked to be a part of it. The kids dressed as different characters from the book. Dayna received an autographed copy of the sequel, and got the book from her Aunt Karey autographed as well.
