Garey and Janiece - 50 years

My parents celebrated their 50th anniversary earlier this year. We were able to help them celebrate at a reception last weekend. It was a Little Bit Country, a Little Bit Rock 'n Roll. What an incredible legacy they have left as they have gone from the two of them to twenty-nine!

Grant Park, Portland, Oregon

Annie is in love with all things Beverly Cleary right now. We took a detour to spend some time at Grant Park, where there are statues of beloved characters from her books. Dayna enjoyed some butterfly hunting as well.

International Rose Test Gardens

Portland is known as the City of Roses, and we planned a day of sightseeing to see new things. The girls were overwhelmed by the Rose Garden overlooking downtown Portland. If you look really closely, you'll see Mount Hood in the background as well.

Krista and Cody

One of our destinations in Oregon was the wedding of my niece (and flowergirl) Krista to her sweetheart Cody. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of them together, but as you can tell from these shots, a great time was had by many!

The highlight of the evening was watching my Dad learn the Macarena.

Ashland, Oregon

At last, we made it to Ashland, Oregon. It may have been serendipitous that the available parking spot was in front of a yarn shop.

Father's Day in Henderson, Nevada

I last saw my cousin Andrea when we were sixteen years old. It's been awhile. What a pleasure it was to spend Father's Day with her lovely family, enjoy some home cooking, and catch up on life. Our fathers were brothers, Marines, and heroes to us. Her dad has been gone for several years now, but it was precious to share our memories.

Hoover Dam

Our trip continued to Hoover Dam. An incredible feat of engineering. It was also about 120 degrees. Yikes!

120 degrees!
